Franchise System

Yoplait and its franchisees

By 1969, France was already considered the world's foremost yogurt producer. It was then that Yoplait decided to share its unique know-how with the world and to develop new markets that would make it a truly international brand.

Rather than bully its way into markets that had already embraced the product, Yoplait embarked on an ambitious expansion program using a unique franchising system. This flexible model enabled partners in various countries to benefit from Yoplait's marketing experience and yogurt making know-how, developing new products specifically adapted to the taste preferences of local populations. The brand's international growth has relied on establishing partnerships with already well established interests in their respective markets. This unique collaborative approach is what has made Yoplait's worldwide expansion so rapid and so successful. For example, in 1971 Yoplait partnered with Agropur, the largest dairy cooperative in the Canada (the third country to sign on after Switzerland and Spain).

Local talent. Global resources.
By joining forces with industry-leading partners in each market, Yoplait ensures that its brand's image and high standards are consistent throughout the world.

Yoplait's international division works closely with its franchisees, making it possible to identify upcoming trends and better anticipate changing consumer preferences. Although franchisees enjoy the freedom to develop new products for their respective markets, they're also free to access the experience and ideas of their partner companies in other countries. If Yoplait excels internationally, it's because the company also strives to find the best possible local markets for its yogurt and yogurt-based products.
