The Role of Probiotics
|
Numerous studies on probiotics have been carried
out over the last 25 years
(7). A lot of scientific evidence has advanced
the idea that probiotics play a role in:
-
preventing and treating acute diarrhea in adults and children
(9);
-
preventing secondary diarrhea due to antibiotic therapy
(9);
-
preventing recurrent pouchitis
(9);
-
stimulating the immune system (to prevent atopy)

By consuming good bacteria in your food, you will maintain a good balance of all
these micro-organisms which contribute to your health! It is important to
emphasize that a single strain of probiotic bacteria cannot produce all these
healthy effects
(11). Unfortunately, there is no such thing as
a "superprobiotic"! It is therefore necessary to target a specific action on
health and find cultures that, as demonstrated through clinical trials, have
the greatest ability to produce the desired healthy effect. The scientists of
the research and development team at Yoplait selected both of the active
probiotic BB-12® Bifidobacterium lactis and
LA-5® Lactobacillus acidophilus cultures contained in
Yoptimal®.
Each 100-g serving of Yoptimal® contains more than 1 billion
probiotics of both of these probiotic cultures.
